STONE’S THROW HASH
Ben James was a motivated entrepreneur. With nothing but two food trucks and a terrific product, he envisioned his locally sourced hash creations in stores across the eastern seaboard. When he approached me to create a logo, packaging and overall design language for this ambitious start-up company, I jumped at the opportunity.
We started with creating the logo, re-wrapping his food trucks and branding his flea market tents. As he began seeing success, investment money came to further expand his business. In short time he was taking orders from major supermarkets. The packages you see on the shelves are my designs.
Logo
Creating the logo was a very collaborative process. Ben knew what he wanted in a broad sense, and we worked together fine tuning the final look. The result was a recognizable mark that speaks to the wholesome spirit of the brand.
Packaging
I teamed up with a terrific graphic designer out of Colombia to create the packaging. Along with Ben, the three of us devised a bold color scheme for each flavor. The end result was a modern looking design that conveyed the premium nature of the product. Additionally, we took a good amount of time researching the optimal packaging techniques and materials, landing on the mylar pouch with a matte finish, and hefty freshness seal. All these decisions helped ensure that quality of the package design matched the quality of the contents inside.

The Food truck
Before Ben’s hash was in supermarkets across the east coast, he was selling his hash out of a food truck. I designed the truck wrap and worked closely with the bus wrapping company to execute on the design. The truck still makes appearances now and then for special events.
