I had the unique fortune of being introduced to a chef/entrepreneur, Ben James, who saw a market for his breakfast hash recipes that he'd been crafting his whole life. Working closely with him, we created his company branding from scratch. First, the name: Stone’s Throw Hash (a nod to its locally sourced ingredients), the logo, the brand’s essence, the brand guidelines, the pitch deck he used to secure investor capital, and finally the packaging. Stone's Throw Foods as it’s now called, is still growing and can be found in most major supermarket chains across the eastern seaboard.
PACKAGING
I collaborated with a very talented graphic designer from Bogota, Colombia to create Stone’s Throw Hash’s first official packaging. We opted for a bold color scheme to compliment each dish. We researched the optimal packaging techniques for this type of frozen food and landing on a matte finish mylar pouch with a built in zip-lock-esque freshness seal. All these choices helped ensure that quality of the content inside matched the packaging on the outside.
STONE’S THROW’S FOOD TRUCKS
Before Ben’s hash was available in supermarkets across the east coast, he was selling his hash out of two food trucks.I designed these wraps and worked directly with the truck-wrapping company. His trucks still make appearances at food festivals and charity events.
